I plan on ordering a tractor, w/ BH and FEL tomorrow (what a birthday present). Nearly certain on the Kubota BX 23, but had looked at the JD 4110 with the 410 FEL and the 46 backhoe. While the JD is somewhat bigger, the Kubota seems to satisfy my needs on the rugged slopes on my wooded 4 acres. Any last minute comments???

Sounds to me like your mind is made up. I would suggest the 4115 if you are going to mount a 46 hoe. I am sure DRankin can give the best first hand feedback on this Deere. He has had both the Orange and Green in this size. ....

Chief, Thanks for the comments.
DRankin, If you have any thoughts on the JD4115 w/ 410 FEL and the 46 BH, I would sure appreciate them. (My JD dealer had recommended the 4110, but I saw that they had the 46 BH on a 4115) Specific question is if the subframe on the JD is better for the 46 BH compared to the BT600 on the Kubota BX 23.

Thanks
jjfinn ....

Any time I hear "rugged" terrain I have to say maybe the BX is not for you. The very short wheel base and small wheels are a advantage in some situations but are a real problem in lumpy environments.

There were only two reasons I traded off my BX....

1) It was beating the hell out of me on my rocky, lumpy lot and,

2)I needed a bit more lift capacity on the FEL.... I could have learned to live with the lift capacity but the ride pushed it over the edge.

There is a BIG difference in comfort between a 55 inch wheelbase with 26 inch tires(the BX) and a 65 inch WB with 35 inch tires as I have with my 4115.

If you can afford it,and I am not too late with this message, take a long hard look at the 4115/46 package. ....

Thanks for the comments -- they are helpful. I will hold off on any committments for a bit and take another look at the 4115 with the BH and FEL. I did notice the possible roughness of the BX when on terrain that is not as rugged as mine. Thanks. ....

DRankin. I again checked out the JD 4115 and found it to be superior in terms of handling the rough land that I have. So you are right in your suggestion. However, I decided to go ahead with the Kubota BX23 largely due to the better price and the fact that I do not have to be pressed time wise in doing the stuff I need to do. Thanks for your comments. They helped me deal with the choice, and helped me deal with expectations. Regards.
